Wellness Activities

Homecare West believes that connecting with your community plays a significant role helping seniors to live at home. We sponsor many senior’s activities and events in the neighbourhoods in which we work. Homecare West strives to work together with other organizations to ensure that wonderful programs exist. Some of the events & activities we have sponsored are:

Nordic Walking for Seniors

Lois Tomlinson, Urban Poling’s instructor

Lois Tomlinson is the owner/operator of Natural Trekking Tours, a North Vancouver-based company that offers year-round tours that feature hiking, snowshoeing, and, of course, urban poling. In addition to hiking the local mountain trails, Lois has completed high altitude expeditions to Mt. Kenya, Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru in Africa, Mt. Elbrus in Russia, Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina, and Island Peak, Mera Peak and Kala Patthar in Nepal. Seniors Yoga Classes

Martine Fox, Certified Yoga Instructor



The body is a temple that holds your highest and truest self and is a sacred place to experience life from. It is of utmost importance and my priority to teach my students safely through their yoga practice so as to honor this principle. Each person expresses life uniquely in their body thus each deserves a personal approach to yoga. I instruct students safely through asanas with focus on alignment and offer several variations to accommodate the student’s level and physiology. I invite students to explore themselves through the asanas with an open mind, open heart and most importantly with curiosity and compassion. Yoga is life and it is also vast and ever-changing. I love to learn more about yoga through my relationships, my own personal practice and by studying with my teachers.

Homecare West Seniors Yoga – Beginners welcome!

Join us for a relaxing hour of stretching with an emphasis on balance, falls prevention, peaceful mind and stress release. The class will be lead by Martine Fox, Certified Yoga Instructor.

Homecare West Chair Exercises on the North Shore

The class is low impact concentrating on balance, stability and core strength for falls prevention. We will also work on our upper and lower body strength with a cardiovascular component. After class we can share a healthy snack and there will be an opportunity for socialization.
